On the Gemini!!

We had a very early start today with our bags out at 4:15 AM.  We got to the airport early enough to catch a 6:30 AM flight.  We stopped at Guayaquil then on to the Galápagos Islands.  We had a 10 minute bus ride to the ocean and then a zodiac ride to the Gemini cruise ship.  It will be our home for the next 8 days.

We had a wonderful lunch then a quick introduction to the ship.  At 4 PM we headed out for a zodiac trip to the Seymour island.  Dianne wasn’t feeling great so she stayed behind. Our friends Charlie and Judy did make the trip to the island.  We saw a ton of blue footed boobies along with a ton of other birds and creatures.  The path was very rough over boulders and gravel.

The highlights were the red throated magnificents and several iguanas.  We had to push hard because at 6 PM the sun goes down and it gets dark very quickly.

Then back to the boat for a champagne toast with the captain and a talk about tomorrow.

What a great start!
